New color studies

We’ve got lucky this spring, we had no warm spells in the late Iowan winter which could ruin magnolia blossoms by the following drop of temperatures.

During our forced Corona confinement I have plenty of time to practice/study the entangled mess of delicate spider like petals of star magnolia flowers. More paintings will be coming.

Years ago I planted tens of the trees around our property, all different variety. Star magnolia is to blossom first, then Jane, and the Saucer one will follow.

White Star Magnolia, 12" x 12", oil on canvas board.

Jane Magnolia, 16" x 20", oil on canvas.

Star Magnolia and Azaleas, 12" x 12", oil on canvas board.
